Questions I Ask About Strange Latter-day Saint Ideas

  1. If God is omniscient, or at the very least is aware of every other beings' thoughts and possesses more wisdom than any other being, why does he council with other divine beings at all?
  2. LDS believe that human beings are the same species as God. What are we supposed to think about non-human species that might exist in the universe who have superior mental, rational, and perhaps religious capacities than humans?
  3. Although not all LDS hold this belief, why does Jesus Christ's Atonement extend to everyone of this world but not to other worlds / universes? Wouldn't that make it deficient?
  4. Since in LDS thought God looks like a human being, what kinds of organs does God have? Does He need lungs to breath or speak?
  5. Why does the endowment seem to give the awkward presentation that God is encountering "matter unorganized" as if he has made no attempt before to organize or guide its development?
  6. If one affirms theistic evolution, what purpose does it serve for God to use evolution to create humanity? Given how long it takes, how messy it is, how prone to defects it is, why wait when He could just organize human bodies directly?
  7. Like the Lectures on Faith point out from interpreting Genesis, if Enos, Cainan, Mahalaleel, Jared, Methuselah, Lamach, and Noah all lived on the earth at the same time, where were they (aside from Noah) during the flood?
  8. Okay seriously, how is Adam-ondi-Ahman in Missouri?
  9. Why does it seem that the Lord was unaware of the persecution and mob violence that drove the Saints out of Missouri (800 miles away) in July of 1833 when he gave the revelation of D&C 97 to Joseph in August?
  10. If the earth itself has an element of mental capacity or agency, shouldn't it be considered a murderous being, responsible for committing untold numbers of crimes against humanity?
